Poor B block! I handed you that paper too late in the block, and I think I panicked you about this project. Just to summarize (we'll talk more on Thursday):
1. You need to watch a movie in French that has something to do with French Colonization. You can watch in groups of 2 or 3. I have provided a (long) list of titles and synopses, as well as where you can find the films. You can chose another film, but I need to OK it first.
2. I need you to have chosen and to have the movie IN HAND by Friday. Some of these films can be hard to find, and there is only one copy of some of them, so if you wait until the last minute, you might end up with a big problem. I will not accept ANY excuse come next Tuesday.
3. Next Tuesday, 3/10, you will write an in-class exam on the film. Your answer will have two major parts:
a. how does this film treat the colonization of that country? (This means thinking about the kinds of questions we've been discussing in class, including what bias does the film have, etc. To do this you will need to do a little research about the colonial history of the region.)
b. what is your opinion of the film and how did it inform your understanding of colonization?
More details in class, and the packet has everything spelled out. I just wanted to be sure no one was worrying about this until I saw you next on Thursday!
